Overview

Surgical Hip Implants have been used for years to help those with damage to their hip joints or are suffering from severe pain from conditions such as Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis or Osteonecrosis. While these hip implants have helped those with their joint pain, they also carry serious side effects that cause lasting damage to the patients.

The Problem

Metal-on-metal hip implants have been found by the FDA to be defective and to be the cause of a serious condition known as metallosis, which is caused by metal particles that are released into the blood stream. The FDA has since issued recalls for many hip implants due to the rise in problems patients have experienced.

Injuries

Those with metal-on-metal hip implants have developed injuries including metallosis. This can damage the tissue surrounding the hip implant, death of the surrounding tissue, loss of bone, or inflammatory reactions. Severe pain and revision surgery is also common with defective hip implants.
